USciences Graduate Fellowships/Scholarships

All of the fellowships/scholarships listed below are given above and beyond any other financial support offered by USciences, do not require any service to the University and are usually offered in the fall semester.

2016 Kathleen Mayes Graduate Fellowship

Purpose of Fellowship: Established in 2016 by Dr. Kathleen Mayes, P’76, PharmD’78, Interim President of USciences, this fellowship is intended to support graduate students in their pursuit of select master’s degree or certificate programs.
 
Eligibility: New graduate students in Bioinformatics, Biomedical Writing, Health Psychology and the MBA in Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Business.
 
Funding: Each student will receive a $618 award per registered credit hour to be applied directly to their tuition.

Harry Bradburd Fellowship

Purpose of Fellowship: Established in 1970 by Dr. and Mrs. Harry A. Bradburd, this fellowship is intended to support a graduate student at USciences who has completed at least one year of graduate study, has accumulated a minimum of 24 hours of graduate credit, and has indicated an intention of continuing graduate study at USciences. Graduate program directors may nominate one student per graduate program. Final selection shall be made on the basis of the candidate’s cumulative weighted grade average.

Eligibility: Graduate program directors should write a letter nominating one student per program. Students must meet the following criteria:

  • Departments: Biological Sciences, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or Pharmacy Practice & Pharmacy Administration
  • Being registered as a full-time graduate student as of the Fall 2015 semester
  • Have completed at least one year of graduate study
  • Have accumulated a minimum of 24 hours of graduate credit
  • Have indicated an intention of continuing graduate study at USciences

Funding: One graduate student will receive a $850 award (please note that this award is considered to be taxable and that the recipient of this fellowship will be required to provide a W-9 form before funds can be released).

Clayton French Fellowship

Purpose of Fellowship: Endowed by Mrs. Mary I. Banks in honor of her father, Clayton French, this fellowship is intended to support a graduate student conducting pharmaceutical research at the University of the Sciences.

Eligibility: Any full-time graduate student that are conducting pharmaceutical research at USciences.

Funding: One graduate student will receive a $2,250 award (please note that this award is considered to be taxable and that the recipient of this fellowship will be required to provide a W-9 form before funds can be released).

William H. Gano Memorial Fellowship

Purpose of Fellowship: Established by Mrs. William H. Gano in memory of her husband, this fellowship is intended to support a graduate student engaged in research at the University of the Sciences.

Eligibility: Full-time graduate students that are engaged in research at USciences. Only one application per graduate program will be accepted for review. Interested students are encouraged to reach out to their program directors.

Funding: One graduate student will receive a $1,750 award (please note that this award is considered to be taxable and that the recipient of this fellowship will be required to provide a W-9 form before funds can be released).

Abraham Glasser Fellowship

Purpose of Fellowship: Provided through a generous gift from the late Abraham Glasser, former trustee and member of the Class of 1943, and his wife, Gloria Glasser, Class of 2002 honorary degree recipient, this fellowship is intended to provide one year of financial support to conduct original research full time without serving as a graduate student instructor.

Eligibility: Full-time PhD students enrolled in chemistry, pharmaceutics, or pharmacology/toxicology who:

  • are not serving as a GSI/GRA
  • have passed their comprehensive examinations
  • have been admitted to candidacy
  • have demonstrated a reasonable degree of progress in their research as determined by their graduate program director and departmental chair

Funding: One PhD student from the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry and one PhD student from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences will each receive a $6,500 award (please note that this award is considered to be taxable and that the recipient of this fellowship will be required to provide a W-9 form before funds can be released). The Glasser fellowship is administered by the Departments of Chemistry & Biochemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences and awarded by the Office of Graduate Education.

Frederick B. Kilmer Research Fellowship

Purpose of Fellowship: Endowed by the late Dr. Frederick B. Kilmer, this fellowship is intended to support a graduate student conducting research in pharmacology and plant chemistry at the University of the Sciences.

Eligibility: Any full-time graduate student conducting research in pharmacology and plant chemistry at USciences.

Funding: One graduate student will receive a $3,000 award (please note that this award is considered to be taxable and that the recipient of this fellowship will be required to provide a W-9 form before funds can be released).

Augustus T. Pollard Fellowship

Purpose of Fellowship: This graduate fellowship in pharmacy was established by Dr. Augusta T. Pollard.

Eligibility: Graduate students enrolled in the Pharmacy Administration graduate program

Funding: One graduate student will receive a $2,000 award (please note that this award is considered to be taxable and that the recipient of this fellowship will be required to provide a W-9 form before funds can be released). The Pollard fellowship is administered by the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacy Administration and awarded by the Office of Graduate Education.

Gelb Scholarship

Purpose of Scholarship: The Gelb Scholarship is awarded to one matriculated graduate student per graduate program.

Eligibility: The scholarship has the following criteria:

  • Recipient must be registered for a minimum of 5 credits per semester
  • Recipient must be in good academic standing

Funding: Recipient will receive $1000 per semester that will be applied toward their tuition.
